Customers should not be the ones discovering your QA problems
QA
When delivering products or services, organizations want to fulfill their customers‘ needs and wants. Within this goal, there’s affordable pricing, a good experience for the customers when using the product or service, and quality in the services rendered or products bought. Companies must ensure that their products or services are up to par with customer expectations and the current industry levels of what they decide to sell. This is where Quality Assurance- QA comes into play.
Quality Assurance vs. Quality Control QA problems
Quality Assurance (QA) is defined as the activity companies perform to ensure that their product offerings are the best they can be when customers receive them. Software testing includes determining and establishing processes that will improve the product’s quality and, therefore, value the customer. Delivering a high-end product involves planning and running these processes before the customer receives the product to make sure there aren’t any complications once they have it.
Unlike Quality Control (QC), Quality Assurance doesn’t focus so much on the end product as it does on creating a plan that adapts to the processes in place to create the end product. This translates to making sure that the product is being made as important as the finished product itself. Establishing these processes ensures providing customers quality, worthwhile product, which drives company growth. In searching for this growth, companies can reach their goals and maintain a loyal, happy customer base.
For companies, testing for quality early in production becomes an invaluable step. QA Testing can help reduce costs— according to a study conducted by IBM in 2008, low developing costs were directly related to a minimal amount of defective products. QA and software testing can help minimize defects by preventing crashes and bugs before they happen, which, in turn, means less money spent on fixing a faulty product by not letting it be released with problems in the first place.
The same IBM study determined that the probability of finding errors within products increased by thirty percent after the product had already been launched. Keep in mind that the costs of fixing a problem increase the further the product develops before it reaches the customer (for example, $50 in the design stage compared to $1,500 after the product has been launched). It’s easy to see why QA Testing is crucial in the early stages of development.
A quality product is a valuable product, especially for the customer. If the developer doesn’t cover all the bases before the customer receives the product, the product’s perceived value declines, seeing as it isn’t of quality. For the company, if the customer’s product value decreases, that means the company’s overall value will also decrease. This translates to less profitable operations and potentially damaging the company’s reputation.
