Job description

A software tester is involved in the quality assurance stage of software development and deployment. They conduct manual tests to ensure the software created by developers is fit for purpose. Software testing involves the analysis of software, and systems, to avert risk and prevent software issues.

Software testers are employed to find bugs and issues within a product before it gets deployed to everyday users. Many software testers will be familiar with programming and using coding languages. Assessing code is one part of the role of a software tester.

As a Software Test Engineer, will spearhead the efforts of manual software testing within the scope of the client’s needs. Will work with one or more approaches ranging from Agile, Scrum, to Kanban to waterfall.

Must be able to adapt to the needs of the client and interact directly with them.

Job responsibilities

  • Thorough analysis of business requirements to ensure they are verifiable and quantifiable.
  • Monitor applications and software systems.
  • Perform Stress testing; Performance testing; Functional testing; Scalability testing.
  • Test in different environments including web and mobile.
  • Write bug reports.
  • Review of documentation.
  • Establish, track and communicate metrics on quality, performance and availability of software applications.
  • Create and execute manual test cases for assigned feature(s). Writing and executing test scripts.
  • Design of tests to mitigate risk.
  • Communicate issues, risks and test status in a timely and detailed manner.
  • Analyze root cause of issues found.
  • Presenting findings to software development and business user teams.
  • Effectively collaborate with team members to achieve the best results.
  • Work closely with internal and external groups such as Product Management, Engineering and QA Leads to deliver high quality product releases.
  • Contribute to a culture of innovation and quality.
  • Working on multiple projects at one time.
  • Document analysis.
  • Liaising with project teams in other parts of the world.

Job Requirements

  • Verbal and written fluent English 
  • Able to work remotely.
  • Able to work U.S. Eastern time hours. (9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.).
  • Must possess attention to detail and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment that requires frequent shifts in areas of focus.
  • Must possess the ability to work in an open team environment as well as independently and take initiative to solve problems and QA challenges.
  • CS degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 6+ years QA experience preferred.
  • Organizational skills with the capability of working towards tight deadlines.
  • Thorough understanding of SQA methodologies and practices preferred.
  • A passion for technology.
